The Indian town of Ooty is located some 85 kilometres north of Coimbatore in the Nilgiri Hills region of the Southern India. It has had a racecourse since 1886, although it only holds races between April and June on its right handed oval turf course of 10 furlongs. The principal race is the Nilgiris Gold Cup over 1600 metres which it stages each May.
